Man arrested for punching another in presence of police

CHICKASHA —

A Chickasha Police Officer was dispatched to 216 W. Illinois Ave. on a domestic abuse call.

Police had already made contact with the residence earlier but no charges were made. It was also reported that everyone at the residence was intoxicated.

An officer made contact with Donna Morris and Tom Edward who were roommates and residents of the home. The officer reported that both were heavily intoxicated and telling the same stories repeatedly, except changing details. Morris told the officer that police were at the house earlier and told her and her boyfriend, Lloyd Smith, to separate for the night.

The officer reported that while he was on the scene, Smith suddenly punched Edward with a closed fist on the left side of his face. Officers got control of Smith and placed him under arrest. Smith had caused a cut on Edward's cheek, which started to bleed.

Smith was transported to Grady County Jail where he was booked for domestic abuse.
