Fightin' Chicks provide fall preview

Fightin' Chicks fans got a view of how the football team is shaping up for this fall during the Purple and White game at Memorial Stadium yesterday evening.

For those counting, the Purple team came out on top by two touchdowns to one, led by quarterback Cade Morris as he both ran for and passed for the teams only scores. Dalvin Madison ran in the white team's only touchdown of the evening.

But the real story was Chickasha coaches getting a look at what they'll have to work with later this summer in preparation for the 2013 season.

"We got great quarterback work tonight," head coach Tom Cobble said. "Cade did a good job tonight, and Corey [Evans] is a good young quarterback. I also thought we got some good work from our offensive line tonight, especially the freshmen and sophomores."

The successful moments did not come fast, with both teams needing some time to get back into a groove.

"We kind of got past the stage fright," Cobble said.

After a few offensive series, Morris began running the line efficiently, with running back and fellow baseball teammate Tresjon Davis also contributing. On the other side, Madison showed some quick feet to get his touchdown, diving into the corner with a gang of defenders pulling him toward the ground.

The Fightin' Chicks will now get some time off before camps start next week.
