Alex beats Allen in one half of play

— The Alex High School football team took care of business in the first half against Allen on Friday in a blowout win.

The Longhorns (5-1) won 48-0, scoring all their points in the first half while shutting out Allen and ending the game at halftime.

Reese Mitchell only had eight carries, but he made the most of them by running for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

Jose Ochoa ran for two touchdowns and threw for one more, and Dalton Alcorn also had one passing touchdown.

The Longhorns only threw seven passes in the game, completing five of them.

Alex's other touchdown came on a 39-yard punt return by Ryland Ketchum in the first quarter.

The Longhorns scored 26 in the first quarter and 22 in the second quarter.

Allen was only able to put up 108 yards of total offense; 40 rushing and 68 in the air.

The Longhorns will play Geary on the road at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
