Lady Chicks sweep Tecumseh

CHICKASHA —

Chickasha volleyball swept Tecumseh to secure their second win of the season Thursday night.

The 25-9, 25-17, 25-23 win was executed with a strong determination, head coach Nancy Waters said.

"We played well tonight," she said. "We talked a lot about mental toughness and playing with power. We did that tonight."

Chloe Reyes, a standout player from the 2012 season, stepped up against Tecumseh and came away with eight kills. Malorie Mottinger had 5 kills and a block on the night, Mikala Harris recorded 4 kills, and Jordan Biddy had 3 kills.

The scoring was provided by Kaydee King and Alei Gann, who recorded 9 assists and 7 assists, respectively. Teamwork on scoring plays proved a vital role in the win, Waters said.

"We passed the ball well," Waters said. "When you do that, you can set the ball and get the kills. We need to continue to improve and work on being consistent each night."

Next for the Lady Chicks is a home match against Piedmont on Sept. 3 that begins at 5 p.m.
