Local runners headed to state

CHICKASHA —

Grady County schools will be represented by two individual runners in this year's Cross Country State Championships this Saturday.

Tara Arnold from Chickasha High School and Jake Thomas from Tuttle High School will compete at Edmond Santa Fe High that afternoon after they qualified through to the state round based on individual times. Arnold will run with the Class 5A girls race at 2 p.m., while Thomas will race with the 4A boys at 12:45 p.m.

No schools from Grady County qualified as a team. Newcastle will send their girls team to the meet, while Anadarko will send both its boys and girls teams.
