After electing to defer in the first half, Chickasha received the kick off to begin the third quarter and scored on their opening drive. A three yard touchdown run by Morris made the score 29-14, taking over seven minutes off the clock.
But the Highlander offense started the second half just like they did the first, hitting receivers on quick screen and out routes to set up the eventual 36-yard touchdown pass from Collins to give McKnight his second touchdown reception of the night. Lawton-Mac kept a 36-14 cushion to end the third quarter.
Chickasha put together their second solid drive of the half, ending on a Cade Morris 14 yard touchdown run to start the fourth quarter thanks to a costly penalty committed by the Highlanders that put the Fightin’ Chicks deep in Lawton MacArthur territory. The Chicks defense made the Highlanders punt for the first time of the night later in the fourth, but the offense was unable to take advantage and had to give it back.
After the Highlanders drove deep into Chickasha territory, they were stopped by Cole Young who intercepted Collins' pass on the Fightin’ Chicks 10 yard line. But on the first the Highlanders for a defensive touchdown to make it a 42-21.
Once again, Chickasha’s offense couldn’t find their stride and went three and out. On the other side of the field, the Highlander offense stayed consistent all night, scoring on two more drives, midway and later in the fourth, to seal the win.
