Chickasha swim finishes month strong

— The Chickasha High School swim team went to the Lighthouse in Oklahoma City for a five-school dual with Piedmont, Casady, Classen SAS, Oklahoma Christian School and Yukon on Thursday.

The Lady Chicks won their duals against Piedmont (50-22), Classen SAS (47-14), Oklahoma Christian School (46-19), Yukon (48-20), and lost only one dual, 47-35 to Casady.

The Chickasha boys won three out of their five duals, beating Classen SAS (44-10), Piedmont (35-26), Yukon (38-20). The Fightin' Chicks lost 36-30 to Casady and 45-33 to Oklahoma Christian School.

Chickasha had several individual winners. Kylie Foster won the girls 100 yard backstroke, finishing in 1:21.38 in the finals, winning by about ten seconds over second place.

Bailey Bryan won the girls 500 yard freestyle over Madison Rivas. Bryan finished in 8:16.77 and Rivas finished in 8:16.94. Bryan also finished third in the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:39.88.

Madison Rivas placed sixth out of 33 swimmers in the 50 yard freestyle in 31.17 seconds.

Dale Courtney won the boys 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:26.40. Kale Nye finished second at 2:27.56.

Caitlin Critchfield was the only participant in the 100 yard butterfly, and finished in 1:31.14. She also finished second in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 3:08.11.

Other top-10 finishers: Greta Crowl finished second in the 200 yard freestyle and ninth in the 100 yard freestyle.

Foster finished eighth in the 50 yard freestyle. Bryan finished third in the 100 yard breaststroke. Kristen Kern finished fifth in the 100 yard breaststroke.

Nye finished sixth in the 100 yard freestyle. Russell Jobe finished second in the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard freestyle.

Andrew Ross finished seventh in the 50 yard freestyle and second in the 100 yard freestyle.

Nils Michael finished third in the 100 yard breaststroke and seventh in the 200 yard freestyle.

John Allen finished eighth in the 100 yard breaststroke.

In relays, the girls team of Foster, Bryan, Critchfield and Rivas finished second in the 200 yard medley relay and third in the 200 yard freestyle relay.

The boys team of Ross, Michael, Jobe and Nye finished second in the 200 yard medley relay and fourth in the 200 yard freestyle relay.

The Chickasha swim team won't compete again until after winter break, at 4:15 p.m. Jan 11 at Cameron University against Lawton.
