CHS swim sends seven to state

EDMOND, Okla. —

Chickasha will have swimmers in seven events at the state meet in Edmond starting Friday.

Three boys' relay teams and two individuals from the boys and girls teams qualified at the regional meet over the weekend. Several swimmers were on the cusp of qualifying via at large bids, which are handed out to the swimmers that finish between 16th and eighth in their events. The top eight qualify automatically.

The boys' 200-yard medley relay, with Andrew Ross, Kale Nye, Dale Courtney and Gabriel Oliver, placed sixth to automatically qualify. Jared Thomson joined Ross, Nye and Courtney to qualify in sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The boys 400-yard freestyle relay finished in eighth.

Dale Courntney qualified as an individual by finishing sixth in the 500-yard freestyle and seventh in the 100-yard backstroke. Andrew Ross also qualified for the 100-yard backstroke. He finished ninth, but his time was good enough for an at-large bid.

Caitlin Critchfield qualified for the girls 100-yard butterfly, while Madison Rivas will compete in the girls 500-yard freestyle.
