Chickasha's swimming season is heating up, with two meets in two days at the end of last week producing some desirable results in the run-in to regionals.
The Fightin' Chicks entered the weekend with the Cameron Swim Meet, where the girls finished fourth and boys finished third as a team. That came after the Duncan Meet on Thursday, which the boys and girls teams both won.
New best times were set for the boys and girls 200 yard medley and freestyle relay teams in Cameron. The girls' medley relay team -- consisting of Greta Crowl, Bailey Bryan, Caitlin Critchfield, and Madison Rivas -- placed third with a new best time, while the freestyle relay team -- with Rivas, Critchfield, Erin Chambers and Marlie McKnight -- placed second.
Both the boys' medley and freestyle teams -- with Andrew Ross, Kale Nye, Dale Courtney and Gabriel Oliver -- finished in second place.
Individual winners at the Cameron meet were Critchfield and Courtney. Critchfield took first with a new best time int he girls' 100 yard freestyle, and she also placed second in the 50 yard freestyle. Courtney won the boys 100 yard backstroke also with a new best time, and he also set a new best to place second in the 100 yard freestyle.
Nye finished second in his signature event, the 100 yard breastroke, with a new best time. Ross also set a new best to take second in the 500 yard freestyle, and he placed fourth in the 100 yard backstroke. Bailey Bryan placed fourth in the girls 500-yard freestyle.
Jared Thomson set a new best time to place fourth in the boys 50-yard freestyle, and he took third in the 200 yard freestyle. Teammate Shaun Jacobson came in behind him in fifth. In her individual events, Rivas finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle and fifth in the 200-yard version of the event.
