Rockies rebound to take regional crown

CHICKASHA —

The Chickasha Rockies little league team spent their Independence Day weekend battling back from an early tournament loss to win the regional tournament and book their ticket to state.

They beat Hobart twice on Saturday, 9-6 and 15-4, after initially losing to them earlier in the week. Now, the team of under-12-year-olds will head to Durant this afternoon, where they'll face Kingston in their first state tournament game at 2p.m.

After losing to Hobart on Tuesday, July 2, the Rockies had a big fight ahead of them in the losers bracket.

With what had to have been a great sense of motivation, the team dispatched of teams from Canute, Elgin and Ardmore to set up a show down in the final against their ultimate nemesis, Hobart. With two wins necessary to come out on top of the double-elimination tournament, the Rockies' resolve was unmatched as they stormed onto State.
