Chicks play in Ada tennis tournament

The Chickasha High School boys and girls tennis teams competed in what head coach Dustin Belden called an "extremely tough tournament" in Ada last Friday and Saturday.

For the girls, Hailey Angel finished eighth in the 1 Singles bracket. Angel went 1-3 in the tournament, with her win coming in the first match against Vanessa Thomas of Durant.

Shelby Crosley finished sixth in the 2 Singles bracket, also going 1-3. Crosley won her third match against Elizabeth Waters of Norman High.

The 1 Doubles team of Dana Rose and Taylor Warren finished 14th, going 0-3 on the day.

Lupita Maldonado and Melody Outhaithavy made up the 2 Doubles team, and they went 0-2 in the tournament.

The boys team faced tough competition as well. Kyle Woodard finished 12th in the 1 Singles bracket, going 1-3. He beat Jericho Woznick of Western Heights in his second match.

Zach Briscoe and Nate Hatfield finished 10th in the 1 Doubles bracket, going 2-2. They lost the first match, but defeated teams from Western Heights and Duncan in their second and third matches before losing to Booker T. Washington.

Noel Avila and Colby King finished 15th in the 2 Doubles bracket, going 1-3, winning their last match against Western Heights.
