Tigers end season with loss in state semifinals

OKLAHOMA CITY — Shea Coats and Hunter Jeffs were locked in a pitching duel, and both Tuttle and Oologah-Talala went scoreless for three innings during the state semifinal game Friday.

But, a home run by Taylor McElhaney in the fourth inning off the left field foul pole gave Oologah the slight edge they needed, and they held on for a 2-1 victory, ending the Lady Tigers’ season in the second round of the state tournament.

Coats finished with nine strikeouts in the game, and Tuttle tried to make a late comeback. The Lady Tigers scored one run in the top of the sixth, and got the tying run on first base in the seventh, but could not get her home.

Shelby Carel went 1-for-3. Lauren Kelley went 2-for-3. Carly Koons went 1-for-3, and Shelbi Robinett went 1-for-2.

Tuttle finished the season with a record of 33-7.
