Chickasha basketball breaks losing streaks with wins at Durant

— Both Chickasha High School basketball teams won on the road Friday night in Durant, breaking three-game losing streaks for both teams.

The No. 15 Lady Chicks beat No. 25 Durant 63-51, bringing their record to 6-9 this season.

Chickasha beat Duncan in the first round of the Chickasha Basketball Classic on Jan. 10, but lost the next two games of the tournament before losing at home to No. 3 Deer Creek on Tuesday.

Dominique Golightly was Chickasha's leading scorer with 23 points, the highest total of the freshman's varsity career.

Kieley Clift scored 14 points, Sierra Hamilton scored 13, Taylor Sylvester had six, Brooklin Burns scored five, and Kelsi Gore added two.

Chickasha had 40 team rebounds in the game.

The Lady Chicks won't play again until Jan. 29 at El Reno, getting some time off while the Chickasha boys play in the Shortgrass Invitational tournament in Altus this week.

The Chickasha boys team also beat Durant on Friday night, winning 64-43 over No. 25 Durant. The Fightin' Chicks are 7-5 this season.

Chickasha is scheduled to play Lawton MacArthur at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the first round of the 41st annual Clester Harrington Shortgrass Invitational in Altus.
