USAO plans 27th annual basketball camp

CHICKASHA — For the 27th straight year, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma will be hosting a youth summer basketball camp aimed at local and area children ages 6-16.

Hosted and directed by Brisco McPherson, USAO head men’s basketball coach and athletic director, the camp helps attendees hone basketball skills, such as shooting and teamwork.

Campers have two options: a day camp for students ages 12-16 and a mini camp for students ages 6-11. The day camp will be June 3-7. There are two dates for the mini camp, and campers can attend June 3-7 or June 24-28.

The mini camp focuses on basic understanding of the sport and strengthening player fundamentals, while the day camp takes the players deeper into the game to cover team aspects and work on more advanced skills.

The day camp, which includes lunch, is $110. The mini camp is $60.

Campers will be given a camp T-shirt and awards will be given to players at each age level in a variety of categories.

The day camp goes from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. The mini camp is just the morning session, and campers should be picked up by 11:30 a.m.
