Shawnee edges Chicks in duals

CHICKASHA —

Chickasha fell to the Shawnee Wolves 27-40 in Tuesday night duals at home.

The Chicks went behind in points early 3-18 in the match, losing the first duals of the night. Some valuable points won toward the end closed the gap and brought it back within reach.

Dakota Resendez won his dual  5-0. Resendez began with a slow start, as both wrestlers operated more on the defensive. But in the third period, Resendez managed to get the takedown he needed to win.

Lamar Neff ended his match in a 0-0 draw. Both wrestlers were aggressive, but neither gained the advantage.

Triston Hill continued his unbeaten streak and won his match with seven points. It was a fairly even bout but Hill managed to come out on top scoring multiple points in the second and third period.

Josh Latham finished his dual with a late pin. Latham dominated most of his match, and he held on until the third period when he overpowered him for the pin. Latham is also undefeated on the season.

That win put the Fightin' Chicks right next to the Wolves at 27-30. Chickasha was unable to win their final match, giving up six points.

The Chicks’ next appearance will be at Pauls Valley in a tournament starting Jan. 10.
