Addo hat trick leads Drovers to win

CHICKASHA —

The USAO women's soccer team got an outstanding individual perfomance from sophomore forward Linda Addo on Tuesday in a win over Mid-America Christian University.

The Drovers beat the Evangels 4-1, and advance to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Addo had a hand in all four USAO goals, scoring three of her own in the second half after assisting on Megan Wilkerson's first-half goal.

"She's grown with confidence with every passing game," head coach Jimmy Hampton said. "She's only a redshirt freshman, so I think from the first game to the last game, you see her understanding her role more and how to find that space, and obviously she's talented."

The Drovers were in control for the entire game. MACU's only goal came with about six minutes left in the game, when USAO was already up 4-0.

Taylor Fain and Kelli Korleski each had one assist for the Drovers.

Goalkeeper Brooke Worcester had five saves in the game.

The Drover women have had a season of streaks. The year started with four straight losses, and the team followed that with seven consecutive wins, a streak that was just broken last Saturday against John Brown with a loss.

"Early on in the season, when we were 0-4, we were struggling to find our identity," Hampton said. "We really weren't playing well, but to be fair, we as coaches probably didn't have all the right pieces in the right spots, so we were sorting it out with so many newcomers."

The USAO women's soccer team is scheduled to play No. 4 Oklahoma City University at 5 p.m. Friday in Oklahoma City.
