The Alex defense makes a stop in their first game of the season.

Friday night featured a couple of Class B powers taking the field in the Alex Longhorns and Davenport Bulldogs. The game featured two of the past three state champions with Alex winning in 2014, and Davenport winning in 2015.

With both teams coming in at 2-0, Alex held a lead at halftime before the Bulldogs were able to take over for the 26-16 victory.

The Longhorns scored all 16 points in the first quarter. They took an early lead with Kooper Boatwright scoring on a 40-yard touchdown run. Alex would be successful on the conversion to go up 8-0.

The Bulldogs would answer with a 40-yard touchdown run of their own. This one came from Jordan West.

Up 8-6 in the first, Boatwright found Tatton Anderson for the score. Anderson has caught a touchdown pass in all three games this season. Alex would again be successful on the conversion.

West would add two more touchdowns in the second half with one being a catch and the other being on the ground. Thomas Ehler also scored for the Bulldogs in the victory.

Davenport outgained the Longhorns 299-197. Boatwright threw for 25 yards and ran for 54.

The Longhorns will be back at home on Friday against a football power not part of the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association. The Longhorns will battle Destiny Christian.
