Am-Po boys, Rush Springs girls advance

Amber-Pocasset and Rush Springs were the only area teams to make it out of weeken district baseball and fast-pitch tournaments.

Cheyenne Graham’s 11th ranked Panthers (18-13) beat Strother and Stuart in the first rounds but had to go to the “if” game for their title. Stuart nipped them 8-4 in the championship game but Amber got them 9-4 in the “if” to advance to next weekend’s Regional.

Former Verden coach Eric Muncy got the unranked Lady Redskins into their Regional in his first year at Rush. After losing to Bray-Doyle 7-4 in the early rounds, they beat the Donkeys twice for the District championship, 6-2 and 2-1 in nine innings to take a 14-16 record to Regionals.

In other softball action, Minco lost to Amber-Pocasset 2-1 and Fort Cobb 9-1. The Mustangs advanced with 20-0 and 13-0 run-rules over Amber’s girls to advance. Verden lost to Cyril 7-1 and Geronimo (no score reported) and Alex lost to Bray 3-2 and Rush 15-0.

Verden and Ninnekah both were eliminated in district baseball tourneys.
