Chickasha’s volleyball teams got a second straight set of sweeps Friday afternoon, dominating Union City on the road.

The JV team opened with a straight-game win, 25-22 and 25-17, then the varsity won in straight games, 25-17, 25-13 and 25-17.

“The JV games were never in doubt,” coach Nancy Waters said. “We played and served well again. I couldn’t be happier with the effort.”

Julie Firebaugh led the varsity win with her second straight 13-kill match, dominating the nets as the team “passed as well as any team I’ve ever had at Chickasha,” Waters said.

“We set well and hit well and that turns into kills. I’m thrilled to death.”

The team finished with 22 kills. Hunter Fleetwood contributed three of them to go with two aces and two digs, Taycee Seibold had four digs, freshman Kali Gann added a kill and Katie Tye had three aces.

Newcomer Kayla Brosius finished with three digs and her first two kills and newcomer Hannah Mahan added two kills after getting her first on Thursday.

“They’re learning to swing and starting to get it,” Waters said. “I just hope we can keep it up tomorrow.”

The team travels to the very competitive Calumet tournament on Saturday and will be on the road at Corn Bible Academy Tuesday and Cement Thursday.
