Chickasha Redhawks Start Season with Tournament Championship

NOBLE - The Chickasha Redhawks 12 and under baseball team started off the season in Noble with a tournament championship.

The first game had them paired against a Purcell team which they handled quite easily with a run rule of 12-1 after four innings. This victory was a true team effort as every player hit the ball and Braden Henricks and Cade Morris provided great pitching.

The next four games were true measures of the heart of the team. The second game against the Bethel Sun Devils was a constant battle with the Redhawks on top at the end of the sixth inning, 6-5.

The host team, the Noble Braves, was the next formidable foe that the Chickasha team faced and defeated 5-1. The Redhawks were now the winner of the winners' bracket and had to face the Bethel Sun Devils, the winners of the losers' bracket. The Redhawks couldn't seem to get on track and were defeated 7-5 forcing an ìifî game as this was the Redhawks first loss.

The true championship game had Bethel leading 4-2 at the end of the fourth inning. The Redhawks' bats finally came alive and they scored 9 runs in the 5th to go ahead 11-4. The team stayed tough for the final inning to give pitcher, Tanner Shoemake, the win.

The team has several injured players that will be resuming play within the next few weeks. The Redhawks are looking forward to a good season trying to keep attitudes high and injuries low.
