The top-seeded and top-ranked Fightin’ Chicks left for Tulsa last night and will open their bid for a state title at 1:30 today against fourth seed Skiatook, the “Cinderella” team of the tournament. A police escort led the sendoff caravan of about twenty vehicles from Elliott to the turnpike entrance. Chickasha (35-4) is the odds-on favorite to bring home the gold in a very tough field.

Rain postpones state tourney



It's deja vu all over again. In a repeat of last year, rains in the Tulsa metro have washed out the first day of the 5A State Baseball Championships and everything is bumped back 24 hours. Chickasha will take the day off and open with Skiatook tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. instead of today.
