Drover men suffer first SAC loss

— The USAO men's basketball team followed up a big home win over Rogers State on Thursday with a road loss to Oklahoma City University on Saturday evening at Abe Lemons Arena.

The Drovers lost to the Stars 76-70, and are 8-2 this season, 1-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference games, and ranked No.14. Oklahoma City is also 8-2, and 1-1 in conference, ranked No. 22.

USAO was unable to contain Stars forward Terry Johnson, who scored 26 points on 11-for-17 shooting, 4-for-5 from 3-point range. Johnson also had seven rebounds and two steals.

The Drovers shot poorly in the first half, hitting only 10-for-26 from the field, and turned the ball over 10 times. Oklahoma City shot 50 percent from the field and only had six turnovers, and the Stars led 38-27 at halftime.

Norris Rumph and Shavon Scott were the leading scorers for USAO with 12 points each. Kennis White scored 11 points.

Drover women drop second straight

The USAO women's basketball team lost its second conference game Saturday afternoon in Oklahoma City against the No. 8 Stars.

The Drovers lost the game 98-42, and now have a record of 9-5 this season, 0-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference games.

The Drovers' leading scorers were Ndeye Ngom and Krista Ford with 12 points, the only two USAO players to have double figures.

Turnovers killed USAO in the loss. The Drovers turned the ball over 27 times, compared to only 11 turnovers for OCU.

The Drovers are scheduled to host John Brown at 6 p.m. (women) and 8 p.m. (men) tonight at the USAO Fieldhouse.
