Ira Dollar, age 90, died peacefully at his home in Mustang on Friday afternoon, Nov. 15, 2013. He was born June 22, 1923 in Caney to Johnnie and Ina (Morrison) Dollar. He grew up in Waurika and was a graduate of Waurika High School.
He proudly served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corp spending much of his military time in India and he was also a Mason for over 50 years. After service he attended OU School of Pharmacy, graduating as a pharmacist in 1949. He owned and operated Corner Drug in Madill from 1956 to 1967. After selling his pharmacy, he worked for several other drug stores until retiring 10 years ago.
Ira was an avid golfer and active member of AA throughout the state of Oklahoma for 42 years . He loved football and basketball, especially OU Sooners and Thunder basketball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janie, two grandsons Robert and Matthew, one brother Charlie and two sisters Mildred and Ina Jean.
Survivors include one son Mike and wife Rachel of Spruce Pine, NC, one daughter Nancy Hadlock and husband Arlon of Mustang, brother-in-law Fred C. Howell of Dallas, Texas, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 in the Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang, with interment at 3 p.m. in Rosehill Cemetery, Chickasha, Oklahoma.
