Rush Springs: Gladys Mae "Granny" Nix, 93, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 in Chickasha.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at the Vimy Ridge Baptist Church, with David Hale officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.
Gladys was born Wednesday, February 19, 1919 in Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, to Thomas Waymon and Hannah Louise (Meyer) Davis. She was a life long resident of the Rush Springs area. Gladys attended school at Agawam and Slaton. On September 6, 1941, Gladys married Homer Edward Nix in Rush Springs. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1981. Gladys worked for many years in the grocery store business in Rush Springs. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening and canning her vegetables. Gladys was always ready for a good game of dominoes and playing pool with Scott. She took pleasure in tending to the cows with Ron and Scott. Gladys loved to be with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If possible, "Granny" never missed any activities involving her grandchildren. Gladys was a long time member of Vimy Ridge Baptist Church where she taught the Beginners Sunday School class for over 68 years. 
Survivors include her daughter, Lahoma Hayes and husband Don of Rush Springs, granddaughter, Lanetta McKay and husband Steve of Weatherford, Texas,  two grandsons, Ron Hayes and wife Teri of Burns Flat, Scott Hayes and wife Angela of Rush Springs, seven great-grandchildren, Jasen, Ashley, Shawn, Dakota, Nicholas, Clayton, and Tyler, great-great-granddaughter, Jaci, two sisters, Hattie Bowman and Nora McCarty, both of Rush Springs,  brother-in-law, Ernie Alexander of Marlow, two sisters-in-law, Nellie Davis of Rush Springs and Lucille Davis of Marlow, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins
Gladys was also preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, Vern, Frank, Leonard, Joe, Cloyce, T.L., T.R., and Mutt Davis, two sisters, Ethel Renfro and Peggy Alexander.
Pallbearers will be: Ron Hayes, Scott Hayes, Dakota Hayes, Steve McKay, Jasen McKay, Shawn McKay, and Nicholas McKay. Honorary pallbearers will be: Chris Dennis, Kevin Dennis, Scott Dennis, Clayton Harper, Jim Chaffin and James Hammonds.
