Sue Collins Davis

July 19, 1930 - Aug. 30, 2012

Sue Collins Davis, 82, of Broken Arrow, died Thursday, August 30, 2012, at home, surrounded by loved ones.  Suzy (as she was known to friends and family) was born in Tulsa, on July 19, 1930, to parents Robert Benton Collins and Louise Collins.  She attended Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, graduating in 1948, and later attended Tulsa University.

Suzy and her husband Jim Patton and their children Bob, Amy, Francie, and Chris, had the opportunity to live all over the world and the United States, through work in the oil industry.  They eventually settled in Chickasha.  Mr. Patton died in 1994, and in 2001, Suzy married Bill Davis and moved to Broken Arrow, where she lived until her death.

Suzy celebrated life to its fullest.  At age 50, she started running 10ks because she was getting bored with weight-lifting.  At 60, she took her first ride in a hot air balloon at the Albuquerque Balloon Festival.  She was interested in everything, from cowboy poetry to genealogy, and music of all genres. She was the granddaughter of the last territorial governor of Oklahoma, Frank Frantz, and was an avid student of Oklahoma history. She was very active in Republican politics and loved attending church and singing in the choir.  She worked at many interesting jobs, including banking and hospital administration.  She was civic minded and enjoyed working in her community, including being involved in the origination of the annual Christmas light display in Chickasha.  She loved people and kept in constant contact with her loved ones around the world through hand-written letters and e-mails.

Suzy is preceded in death by her husband Jim Patton and her daughter Amy Patton.  She is survived by her husband H. William Davis, her son Robert Patton and wife Jama of Edmond;  her daughter Amy’s son Casey Woods, his wife Rachel, and their daughter Olivia, and Casey’s father Greg Woods and his wife Robin; her daughter Francie and fiancé Wayne Brandenburger; her son Chris Patton, his wife Laura, and their daughters Rachel and Katie, of Richardson, Texas; her sister Timmie Hanna and husband Ed; her brother Doug Collins and wife Carolyn; her sister-in-law Caroline Patton; her grandsons, Jacob Becannen, his wife Amanda, and their daughter Clara of Oklahoma City, and Daniel Becannen and his daughter Angela of Edmond; her cousins Tillie Fox, Vicki Witte, Jim Frantz, and Peter Scott, and their families; her brothers-in-law Marshall Patton and wife Betty Brister, and Darrell Patton; nieces Meghan Davis and husband Philip, Sally Patton, Liz Patton, and Paula Cortner; nephews Mark Cortner, Malcolm Cortner, Tony Collins, Doug Patton, Marshall Patton, John Patton, and Patrick Patton; and many others, including Larry and Judy Davis and their family, John and Whitney Cortner, Tyler and Kacey Cortner, Sam Davis, Matthew and Melinda Davis, Jessica and Brian Highfill, Frantz and Sheena Cortner, and Amber, Dan, and Emma Sue Mignosa, as well as many other dear friends and relations.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the chapel at the First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa.
