Memorial services for Don Leo Wittenbach, of Chickasha, will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday,  Oct. 3, 2013 at the First Christian Church, Chickasha.

Don Leo Wittenbach was born in Electra, TX on Dec. 3, 1936 to Mattie Smith Wittenbach and A.W. Wittenbach, Sr.  He died on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 from a lingering illness, at the age of 76.

Don received Master of Music and Master of Music Education degrees from Midwestern University in 1966.  He earned postgraduate hours from Oklahoma University and TCU.  He was a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the American Guild of Organists, and was selected for publication in Who’s Who in Music.

Don married Luellen McLean in 1966 in Wichita Falls, TX and they moved to Chickasha in 1970.  During his career, Don served as organists-choir director in churches in Texas and Oklahoma.  He had served in this capacity at First Christian Church in Chickasha for 15 years at the time of his retirement. In addition to his service in churches, he owned and operated Wittenbach Music Studio, teaching students in keyboard instruments, and in voice.  While a member of Rotary, he was instrumental in organizing the Grady County Chapter of Crime Stoppers and served as chairman for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Luellen, of the home; son, Chris and his wife, Carolyn, granddaughters, Crystal and Kylie and son, Corey, and his wife, Liz, granddaughters, Sadie and Emma all of Blanchard.

He was brother-in-law to Rose McLean of Oklahoma City and Kathy McLean-Davis and her husband, Jess, of Trenton, Texas.

Don is also survived by one sister, Faye Gore-Smith, of Annapolis, MD and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services are under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha.
