Medra Jervis

— Medra Jervis, 80 year old Checotah resident, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2013 in Checotah.  She was born on Tuesday May 5, 1933 to Arvous Samuel and Myrtle May (Johnson) Stewart in Chickasha.  Medra grew up in Chickasha where she received her education.  She met the love of her life, Joseph Harvey Jervis, and was married on Wednesday, June 22, 1949 in Chickasha. Medra became a homemaker, sold Avon, worked as a cashier at the Chief Drive- In Theater, worked for a CPA and later worked in the office for an optometrist.  The family owned and operated J&J Video Store in Chickasha for several years. Medra retired and began taking care of her father. She and Harvey moved to Checotah in 2002, where she enjoyed reading, playing solitaire, going to the casino and spending time with her grandchildren who she loved and adored.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and also a member of Eastern Star.  Medra was preceded in death by her parents and two infant brothers.  She is lovingly survived by her husband, Joseph Harvey Jervis of the home; children, Gerald Kent Jervis and wife Helen of Chickasha; Laura Lynn Creekbaum and husband Gary of Checotah; George Arvous Jervis and wife Melanie of Chickasha; her grandchildren, Jeffery Wayne Creekbaum and wife Wendy of Panama City Beach, FL; Michael Joseph Creekbaum and wife Junelle of Checotah; Eric Randall Jervis of Chickasha; Jessica Rahey Sudduth of Bethany; Christopher Baughman of Chickasha; and Stephanie Willbanks and husband Garrett of Kingfisher.  Medra is also survived by her brother, Aaron Stewart and wife Mercedes of Houma, LA.; 18 great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.   Services celebrating the life of Medra will be held 2 PM on Monday, August 26, 2013 at the Serenity Chapel of Garrett Family Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Loftin officiating. . A private family committal service will be held in Chickasha. Womaluke Cox, Jeff Kilpatrick, Mike Stidham and Jim Jones will serve as Honorary Casket Bearers.
