— Rod Carroll
A Celebration of Life for Rod Carroll, age 61 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ in Chickasha.
Rod Carroll was granted his angel wings on Saturday, March 1, 2014 while doing what he does best, helping others. Life will never be the same for his family, friends, and the many people he touched.
Rod was born on April 27, 1952, in Walters, and grew up in Chattanooga, Oklahoma where he graduated from high school. He graduated from Oklahoma Christian College, and received additional degrees from Abilene Christian University and Southern Nazarene University.
He married his soul-mate, Diana Goss, on July 31, 1972. His source of joy and pride were his wife and his children, Jason and Holly, and his son-in-law, Cody Andersen, and his granddaughter, Riley.
His many places of ministry included Davenport, Cache, Fort Cobb, and Chickasha. He was currently the minister of the Ninnekah Church of Christ, and he was employed as a Licensed Professional Counselor/Clinical Director at Southwest Youth and Family Services. Rod impacted many lives through his work as a minister and counselor in ways he will never know.
He enjoyed gardening, baseball, and watching anything Sci-Fi, especially Star-Trek. But his greatest joy of all was his love for his Lord, and his family.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Frances Carroll, and his sister Rhonda Carroll.
Survivors include his wife, Diana, of the home; his son, Jason Carroll, of Omaha, Neb., his daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Cody Andersen and granddaughter, Riley of Chandler, Ariz. Rod has a special brother, Steve Carroll, and his wife Deana of Lawton, Oklahoma; three sisters, Barbara McGhee and husband, Bob of Jay, Oklahoma, Joan Lehew of Caddo Mills, Texas, and Linda Bates and her husband, Ole, from Slana, Alaska; numerous nephews and nieces that he loved very much. Rod’s family also included his mother-in-law, Joyce Goss, brothers-in-law, Johnny Goss, and wife, Paula, Steve Goss, Danny Goss and wife Diane, Dean Goss, and his wife Michelle; many nieces and nephews that he also loved very much.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
