Funeral service for Ilona Maye Cooper Melton, 59, of Chickasha will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 at the Grand Assembly of God Church.

Ilona Maye Cooper Melton was born Feb. 14, 1954 in Ft. Cobb,  the daughter of Vernon LeRoy and Billy Anne (Hill) Henderson.  She died Oct. 29, 2012 in Chickasha.

Ilona lived in Ft. Cobb before moving to Chickasha in 1991. She graduated from Ft. Cobb High School.  She worked at Grace Living Center for 15 years.  Before that she worked as a sales manager for HollyTex Carpet Mill for 20 years.  She had also worked at Allied Foods.

Lona was known as ‘the Mema’ to all of her grandkids and to many other friends.  She loved her kids and grandkids more than anything in the world.  She enjoyed going to all of their ball games and school activities.  Mema was also an amazing cook.  She loved to cook for her family and always had enough to feed an army.  Lona was full of life and will be sorely missed by all.

Ilona was preceded in death by parents; two sisters:  Sandra Velaine and Candice Colleen; and a daughter:  Amity Brooke Cooper

Survivors include husband:  Robert Melton of the home; children: Brookelyne Cooper of the home, Lori and Dylan Dawson of Calif., Vernon Allen and Diana Cooper of Moore, Timothy and Renee Cooper of San Antonio, Texas, Candi McElroy and Deirik Riley of Chickasha and Kenzie and Jeff Clark of Cyril; many grandchildren, a great-grandchild; brothers:  Roy Robert Henderson of Granite, Chester Leroy Henderson of Terre Haute, IN; step-children: Deborah Hadley of Levelland, Texas, Ragina Melton of Odessa, Texas, Eric Melton of Odessa, Texas; any nieces, nephews and cousins and an uncountable number of friends.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
