Funeral services will be held for Roy Thurman Miller, 94, of Chickasha at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 in the Ferguson Funeral Home.

Roy T. Miller was born in Darwin, Oklahoma, on May 8, 1918, the son of William and Diora Anderson Miller. He died Sunday, March 24, 2013, in Chickasha.

Roy came to the Chickasha area in a covered wagon as a young boy. He attended school at Cottonwood, Pleasentview, Chickasha and Ninnekah schools.

Roy married his wife Velma Hazel Long in Chickasha, Oklahoma where they were happily married for 60 years.

Roy worked at Bolten Dairy and in the oilfield for many years until finding his true passion of carpentry. He worked with his nephew Roy Lee Miller and brother Tommy Miller building homes. He later retired to take care of his wife Hazel as she became sick.

Roy loved to work in his shop; he would build furniture to sell. He also loved making toys and small furniture for the great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: both parents, William & Diora Miller; sister, Oleta Miller; four brothers, Jim, J.E., Casston & Tom Miller; son, Donnie Miller; and two daughters, Wanda & Bettie Miller.

Survivors include: son; Roy E Miller & wife Doris, of Chickasha, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Terrie Butler, of Yukon, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Dianna Morris & husband Ronnie, of Carter, Oklahoma; grandson, Roy D Miller & wife Patty, of Chickasha, Oklahoma; sister in law, Peggy Cox, of Bixby, Oklahoma, many nieces, nephews and cousins; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren,& nine great-great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
