Ida R. Smits

Ida R. Smits, 98, 0f Chickasha, was called home by the Lord on Monday, April 9, 2012 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha. She was born Nov. 10, 1913 to William and Ida H. (Hubner) Herriges in Cedarburg, Wisc.
She was united in marriage to Robert Paul Smits on Aug. 31, 1935 in Grafton, Wisc. From this union, four children were born. Robert preceded her in death on June 12, 2006.
Ida worked with the United Auto Workers. She was employed doing landscape paintings. She also enjoyed crocheting and crafts of all kinds. She shared all of many crafts she made with those she so dearly loved. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert Smith and wife Kay of Anadarko and Donald Smits of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Constance Dawson and husband Lehman of Sherman, Texas; 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Herriges, her husband Robert Paul Smits, a son William Smith and a brother William Herriges.
A rosary will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Smith Chapel. Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 12 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Joseph Schwartz officiating. Services are being conducted under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Anadarko.
