Melita Ann Burmeister Hooper

Memorial service for Melita Ann Burmeister Hooper of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2013 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.

Ann was born to Elda and Bill (W.M.) Burmeister on February 5, 1929 in Amber.

When Ann was 4 years old the family moved to Chickasha.  Ann went through the public school system and graduated in 1947.

In 1949, Ann met and married Roy Hooper.  They followed the oil field until their first child was to start school.  They settled in Chickasha and started their business, Hooper’s Carpet Cleaners.

Ann was a member of the First Baptist Church for almost 80 years. She worked with the junior age children for 30 years. During this time,  Ann sang in the Adult Choir for at least 40 years, retiring when she was in her 60’s.  During this time she helped with the junior choirs.  Ann loved music.

Ann was preceded in death by: Parents:  Elda and Bill Burmeister; Sisters:  Rowena, Arthena, Kathryn,  Irma Jo and Gene ; Brothers:  Kenneth, Jerry and Bill and Husband:  Roy Hooper

Survivors include two daughters:  Beverly Wenzel and husband Garry and Marsha Bartlett; a son:  Bill Hooper and wife Theresa; three grandchildren:  Lacey Wenzel, Brandon (Bub) and Brittany Hooper; a sister:  Eileen Hoover; two nieces: Sally Daniel and Jeanie Slaven; two nephews:  Troy Griffin and Junior Hoover; Brother:  Jack Burmeister and wife Jo; and several nieces and nephews

Arrangements are under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Regional Food Bank.
