Teresa Murl Payne

— Teresa Murl Payne

Memorial service for Teresa Murl Payne, age 53, of Chickasha, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kim Hayes will officiate.

Teresa Murl Payne was born the daughter of Murl D. Pugh and Nellie McCanlas Pugh on October 7, 1959 in Guthrie. She died on Sept. 3, 2013.

She graduated high school from Ft. Cobb in 1977. She lived in Anadarko and Cyril before moving to Chickasha with her four daughters. She attended college at USAO during which time she met Rex Payne. After graduating from USAO, she worked as a counselor at Chisholm Trail in Chickasha. She and Rex married the summer of 1994. She eventually joined Rex at the family restaurant. She raised four children, three grandchildren, helped raise her nephew, and housed and helped any who needed it.

She was preceded in death by her father Murl D. Pugh; grandparents, Luther and Mable McCanlas; grandparents, Murl and Lucille Pugh; uncle, Marvie McCanlas.

She is survived by her husband Rex D. Payne; mother Nellie Pugh; daughter and son-in-law Johnna and Randall Hurt; daughter Tally Payne; daughter and son-in-law Tessa and Gregory Day; son Chad Pugh; daughter and son-in-law Jaimy and Chris Roberson; daughter Ollie Payne; and 12 grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements and services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
