—  Melvin G. "Handy Andy" &  Mamie L. Andrews

Memorial service for Melvin G. "Handy Andy" and Mamie L. Andrews will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 9:30 a.m. at Maranatha Baptist Church with graveside service to follow in Lindsay at 1 p.m.

Melvin was born in Stonewall, Okla. on Aug. 25, 1938 to Melvin F. Andrews and Verna V. Sanders. Mamie was born Nov. 17, 1939 in Purdy, Okla. to Finis Leroy “Slick” Ivy and Dovie Lenora (Johnson) Ivy. They were married on May 11, 1954 and their wedlock gave them a daughter and a son, Jeanie A. Phillips and Darrell G. Andrews, both of Odessa.

They were very fortunate to have five grandchildren: Natalie J. Uranga and husband Paul of League City, Lori D. Tomlinson and husband Chance of Odessa, Elizabeth Ballanger and husband Ethan of Dallas, Texas; and the loving memory of grandsons: Jeffery “Blake” Andrews and Phillip D. “Flipper” Andrews. They also have five great-grandchildren: Lillian Grace, Charlotte Rose and Abigail Kate of Odessa and Joaquin and Zoey Adella of League City.

Melvin is also survived by JoAn Rayburn and (the late) Love Lee “Red” Rayburn in Maurice, LA, Geneva and Fred Dennison of Chickasha, Verna Payne of Minco, , and Vera and Alvin Lehman of Minco.

Mamie is also survived by Helena Carter and (the late) Lester “Leck” Carter of Lindsay, Lenora and Allen R. Wilson of Lindsay, Alfred “Butch” and Phyllis Ivy of Elk City.

Melvin always had PLENTY of riddles and puzzles to challenge himself and anyone else willing to listen. He had a constant desire to play one more good game of checkers with someone who hadn’t played him before and lost.  The only thing as fun as checkers was playing Crazy Rummy every morning with his beloved wife.

Anyone and everyone who ever met Mamie, a precious, endearing woman, always warmly felt her deep giving love and was sincerely touched by her contagious smile. Our lives have all been FULLY blessed with the privilege of knowing her.

We now faithfully entrust their lives to our heavenly father as we await our reunions.
