— Richard V. “Bud” Giles Sr.
Funeral services will be held for Richard V. Giles, 78, of Chickasha at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Kim Hayes officiating.
Richard V. Giles was born in New Boston, Texas on August 21, 1934, the son of Everett and Mertle White Giles. He died on Monday, March 4, 2013, in Chickasha.
Richard lived and went to school in Genoa, Arkansas until he entered the Navy on active duty November 16, 1954. He went to reserve duty in 1958 and was honorably discharged on November 15, 1962. He served during the Korean War and received the China Service Medal. Richard worked in the oilfield in Texas and Louisiana as a derrick hand until his retirement. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Chickasha.
Richard met the love of his life Faye Rene Hinton in 1969. They married October 23, 1973 in Idabel, Oklahoma. Together they have four children.
He was preceded in death by: both parents; Everett & Myrtle Giles, five brothers; Roosevelt, Ryben, William, Raymond & Ellsworth Giles.
Survivors include: wife; Faye Giles of the home, four children; Richard Giles Jr., Yvonne Robinson & Emily Giles all of Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Kathy Walker of Edmond, Oklahoma, two sisters; Lilly Faye Westbrook of Livington, Texas & Marie Bolt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, seven grandsons, four granddaughters, and four great-grandchildren.
Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. in the Ft. Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
