Funeral service for Wilma Geraldine Carter, 74, of Chickasha, will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 at the Grand Assembly of God Church.
Wilma Geraldine Carter was born Oct. 2, 1938 in Wheeler, the daughter of William Lonnie and Ida (Patrick) Taylor. She died Oct. 28, 2012 in Chickasha.
She graduated from Rexroat High School in 1956. She married Homer Tadlock and had two children, Monty and Michele. Life changing events led to her marriage to Tony Lambert, II. They had a son Tony, who passed away in 1982. After the death of her husband Tony, Wilma married Vernon Carter. They had a daughter Tanya. Vernon worked in road construction which led to numerous re-locations across the State of Oklahoma. Wilma began working with C R Anthony Retail Business in 1975 and remained with the company until she retired in 1998 due to health issues. Over the years, Wilma had earned various awards including Salesman of the year. She was dedicated to her work and was honored for her willingness to go above and beyond work expectations. Wilma lost her husband Vernon in 1998, the same year she retired from work. Her health quickly declined. She entered Grace Living Center facility in 2006, where she resided to present date. She enjoyed her stay there and made lasting relationships with the residents as well as the staff. Wilma lived a life full of compassion and love for others.
