Funeral services for Raymond Roosevelt Goates, of Chickasha,  will be 1 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2014 in the Sevier Funeral Home Chapel.

Raymond Roosevelt Goates was born March 11, 1933 near Waurika, to John Richard and Annie Uzell (Smith) Goates.  He passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014 at his home at the age of 80.

Ray grew up in the Claypool community near Waurika and graduated from Claypool High School.  He entered the U.S. Army on April 20, 1954 and served until his discharge on April 3, 1956.

Ray married Loyce Deonnia King on May 20, 1972 in Wichita Falls, Texas.  He worked in the horse trailer industry for years before going to the oil field where he retired as a driller.

He is preceded in death by both his parents; his wife, Loyce; 4 brothers: Donald, Jim, Leroy and and baby Charles; 3 sisters: Lula, Christine and baby Victoria; and a son-in-law, Glen Eaves.

Ray is survived by a son, Larry Goates, of Cement and daughter, Debra Eaves, of the home; two brothers:  A.R. “Doodle” Goates and Bobby Goates; two sisters: Beth Goates and Pat Cofer; seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren 1 great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Interment will be in the Pocasset Cemetery, Pocasset, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha.
