Funeral service for Rodger Doyle Willis, age 61 of Verden,  will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 in the Spring Creek Baptist Church. Phillip Willis and Rev. Edward Whitley will officiate.

Rodger Doyle was born the son of Marvin Willis and Alberta Moser Willis on Jan. 19, 1952, in Chickasha. He died on Oct. 15, 2013 at his home north of Verden.

Rodger grew up in the Pocasset area and moved to the farm north of Verden as a teenager. He graduated from Verden High School then attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee for one year. Rodger then met Linda Kay Brinkman and they were married Aug. 19, 1972 in Topeka, Kan. After a couple of years in Topeka, they moved back to the Verden area. Rodger farmed and was the preacher at the Spring Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Alberta Willis and his wife, Linda.

Survivors include his daughter and husband, Tammy and Peter Lefebvre of Verden; son and wife, Phillip and Shanna Willis of Verden; four grandchildren, Sharee, Shelton, Shafer and Shadrick; brother and wife, Jerry and Marla Willis of Powderly, TX; brother and wife, Charles and Terry Willis of Anadarko; brother and wife, Tim and Peggy Willis of Cement.

Interment will be in the Verden Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
