William Eugene Pruner

— William Eugene Pruner

William Eugene Pruner, 81, of Shawnee, died Sept. 18, 2013 at the Norman Veterans Center.

A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 30, and a Mass for the Order of Christian Funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 632 N. Kickapoo, Shawnee, Okla., 74801.  Graveside services will be at Calvary Cemetery in Shawnee, Okla.

Bill was the youngest of 12, born April 29, 1932, at the family allotment farm in Chickasha, Okla., to Charles Beaver Pruner and Cynthia Anderson Pruner. He died at Veterans Center in Norman, Okla., after an extended illness.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Norman Veterans Center for their care during the year he stayed with them.

Bill graduated from Chickasha High School in1950 and was an active alumnus of the school. He then graduated from Haskell Indian College in 1952. Following graduation, he served in the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1956 and was stationed in the 5th Armored Division, 3rd Corps, Fort Hood, Texas, as a court reporter.  Following his honorable discharge, Bill worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 35 years and was stationed in Pawhuska, Okla., Washington, D.C., Ignacio, Colo., and Shawnee, Okla.

He married Joan J. Jordan on March 17, 1959, and was father to two children, Anthony Charles Pruner, deceased, and Angela Pruner Startz, Norman, Okla. He is survived by one beloved granddaughter, Monica Nicole Grantham; one brother, Harold; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was an avid golfer, a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, and formerly a member of the Junior Jaycee, Knights of Columbus and Boy Scouts of America.

He lived; he loved; he died. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Catholic Charities of Oklahoma City, Family Promise of Shawnee or Project Gabriel of Shawnee.

    A come and go ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held for Jacqueline Ann Bohannon, 77, of Duncan, Oklahoma on Saturday, May 3rd at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ in Chickasha from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.  Jackie was born June 18, 1936 in Allen, Oklahoma to the parents of Harold and Bea Hammonds.  She passed from this life to be with her Lord on April 10, 2014 after a prolonged illness.

    Clifford Franklin Williams, 98, of Minco was born November 6, 1915 at Minco, Oklahoma to Claude Custer and Viola Pearl (Pettis) Williams. He died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at his home in Minco, Oklahoma.
        Services will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014, 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Minco. Reverend Bob Waitman and Reverend Bob Hines officiating. Burial, Evergreen Cemetery of Minco, Oklahoma under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home in Minco.

    Funeral for Reva Mae Burlison,88, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, in the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Andy Lashley will officiate and Brian Johnson will assist.
    Reva Mae Royal was the 7th of 9 children, born to Walter Scott Royal Sr. and Nellie Speer Royal. She was born in rural Harmon County, near Hollis, Oklahoma on September 23, 1925. She passed away on April 16, 2014, in Chickasha.
