Graveside funeral services will be held for Harvey Pierce, 92, of Chickasha at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013, in the Fairlawn Cemetery with Johnny Tims officiating.
Harvey Pierce was born in Osborne, Kansas, on June 12, 1920, the son of Zay Pierce and Maude Green Pierce. He died on Monday, April 8, 2013, in Chickasha.
Harvey grew up in Osborne and graduated from Osborne High School. After graduating high school he enlisted in the Army and served from 1942-1946 as a staff Sargent.
In 1943 Harvey married the love of his life, Elizabeth Doran Foster in Mineral Wells, Texas.
After his honorable discharge the couple moved back to his home town of Osborne, Kansas, where he was employed at the Osborne County Farmers Newspaper.
Harvey and Elizabeth moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma in 1952, where he became employed at the Chickasha Star as a printer. He had been in the newspaper and printing business 40 years until retiring.
Harvey loved to fish, and do yard work. He also enjoyed doing small repair work around the house.
He was preceded in death by: both parents, four sisters and son Douglas Alan Pierce.
Survivors include: wife; Elizabeth Pierce of the home, brothers; Dean Pierce & wife Ermalea of Wichita, Kansas, Ronald Pierce & wife Mary of Richmond, Kentucky, Don Pierce & wife Joyce of Derby, Kansas, sisters; Dorothy Belden of Sun City, Arizona and Dixie Blunt of Salina, Kansas.
Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
