Carlton Dean Edens passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 12, 2014, at his home in Chickasha. Dean was born on May 2, 1932, in Tulsa, Ok. He graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1950, and attended Oklahoma State University, where he studied chemistry and engineering.

From 1951-1955, Dean proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, during the Korean War, as an Electrician’s Mate First Class aboard the USS Taussig. Dean was honored for his service with the National Defense Service Medal, China Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Korean Service Medal (3 stars). After his naval service, Dean relocated to Chickasha and worked as an electrician for the federal government, Agricultural Research Service, at the Southern Plains Watershed Research facility, and retired from service there in 1987.

In his retirement, Dean enjoyed spending time at his cabin on Grand Lake, fishing and hunting.

Dean was preceded in death by his wife Betty Edens, his mother and father Carl and Elva Edens, his sister Virginia Edens Huggard, and is survived by two nephews, great nephews, nieces and friends.

A memorial service has not been planned at this time. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
