— James (Jim) Cato Sheerer

Funeral service for Jim Sheerer, age 83 of Chickasha, OK, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013, in the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Robert Oglesby will officiate.

James Cato Sheerer was born the son of Cato Aisquith Sheerer and Pearl Heifner Sheerer on June 13, 1929 in Corsicana, Texas. He died on April 17, 2013 in Norman.

He married Nona Sue Keenon on August 19, 1955 in Abilene, Texas.

Jim grew up in Corsicana, Texas and graduated from Corsicana High School. He served four years in the United States Navy. Jim received his Bachelor of Arts and his Master of Arts degrees from Abilene Christian College. He began preaching on the island of Guam while in the Navy. Jim was a gospel preacher for 60 years preaching for Churches of Christ in Carbon, Llano, and Austin, Texas, Jamestown, NY and Chickasha. He was a resident of Chickasha for 45 years.

Jim was a member of the Church of Christ for 70 years. He was a member of the Lion’s Club for over 40 years and was made a life member in 2010.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cato and Pearl Sheerer and sister, Virginia Sheerer Rich.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 57 years, Nona Sue Sheerer; three daughters and husbands, Janis and Steve Hagler, Julie and Larry Diepenbrock, and Jennifer and Brett McKnight; seven grandchildren, James and Ryan Hagler, Debra and Stephanie Diepenbrock, and Jeff, Riley, and Brittany McKnight; two sisters and husbands, Joyce and Charles Williams and Mary and Lavelle Layfield; two brothers-in-law, Ken Rich and Walter Shields; sister-in-law, Mary Cecile Keenon; numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.

The family will be receiving friends at the McRay Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Friday.

    A come and go ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held for Jacqueline Ann Bohannon, 77, of Duncan, Oklahoma on Saturday, May 3rd at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ in Chickasha from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.  Jackie was born June 18, 1936 in Allen, Oklahoma to the parents of Harold and Bea Hammonds.  She passed from this life to be with her Lord on April 10, 2014 after a prolonged illness.

    Clifford Franklin Williams, 98, of Minco was born November 6, 1915 at Minco, Oklahoma to Claude Custer and Viola Pearl (Pettis) Williams. He died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at his home in Minco, Oklahoma.
        Services will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014, 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Minco. Reverend Bob Waitman and Reverend Bob Hines officiating. Burial, Evergreen Cemetery of Minco, Oklahoma under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home in Minco.

    Funeral for Reva Mae Burlison,88, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, in the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Andy Lashley will officiate and Brian Johnson will assist.
    Reva Mae Royal was the 7th of 9 children, born to Walter Scott Royal Sr. and Nellie Speer Royal. She was born in rural Harmon County, near Hollis, Oklahoma on September 23, 1925. She passed away on April 16, 2014, in Chickasha.
