services for Wilma L. Rice, 89, of Chickasha will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013, in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko, Oklahoma with Reverend Johnny Tims officiating.

Wilma was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma on June 28, 1924, the daughter of Walter E. and Virginia E. Crumm Weber.  She died on Sunday, September 22, 2013, after a brief illness at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Wilma grew up in the Anadarko area. She attended Broxton Public Schools. She played basketball in high school making it her most loved sport. She never missed a Thunder game.

She married Wesley A. Rice on June 15, 1945. They were married sixty seven years.

Wilma had a passion for fashion. She started her career in downtown Oklahoma City at Kerr’s Department Store. Later owning boutiques in Cassidy Square, Maggie’s and The Staircase. There were many fun trips to Dallas market where she was often asked for her autograph. She was mistaken for Dinah Shore which brought many smiles. She was such a loving woman. Retiring from retail in 1975 to enjoy traveling and her family. She was a doting grandmother, never realizing just how wonderful it would be when her great grandchildren arrived.

She was preceded in death by: both parents, husband; Wesley Rice, two sisters, three brothers, daughter; Brenda Rixleben and granddaughter; Ashleigh Rixleben.

Survivors include:  son and daughter in law; Perry and Quannah Rice of Edmond, three grandchildren Shelly Fryer, Chad Rice and wife Melissa, all of Edmond and Trey Rixleben, of Chickasha, five great grandchildren; Peyton and Luke Fryer and Jacob, Halley and Zachary Rice.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Inez Kinney Gaylord Emergency Women’s Shelter, C/O YWCA, 2460 N.W. 39th, Oklahoma City, OK 73112. Condolences can be made at the Ferguson Funeral Home site,
