— Lewis Leon Brewer
A memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Lewis Leon Brewer will be held Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Sevier Funeral Home Chapel in Chickasha.
Lewis Leon Brewer, 77, was ushered into eternity to his final reward on Jan. 31, 2014, at Grace Living Center in Chickasha.
Lewis was born Feb. 11, 1936, in Chickasha to Amon C. and Grace M. Brewer.
Lewis attended Chickasha High School. He married Okla Roe on April 19, 1958, in Gainesville, Texas.
Lewis moved to Shamrock, Texas in 1959, working for the Shamrock Natural Gas Company until 1975. He moved his family to Alex, Oklahoma in 1975, to be near his and Okla's parents. Lewis worked for the Permian Oil Corporation until his early medical retirement in 1989.
Lewis enjoyed working with his hands, single-handedly building several additions to the family home. He was skilled at woodworking, building a wide variety of lawn and porch ornaments. He kept his acreage lush and green and took pride in the beautiful foliage surrounding his home. He especially relished spending quality time with his grandsons and was known as Papa Lewis to not only his grandsons but many of the other neighborhood children.
His family writes of him: “Lewis loved his family more than anything else and always put their interests before his own. His generosity and kindheartedness were an inspiration to all of us. He lived his life with integrity and honor. He would literally give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. More than once he came to the rescue of those in need that were stranded, offering fuel, food, money, rides and support.”
He is survived by his wife Okla of Chickasha; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Sandy Brewer of Gilbert, Arizona; son Mike Brewer of Lindsay; former daughter-in-law Tammy Taylor of Alex; grandsons Lance, Adam, and Tyler Brewer of Gilbert, Arizona; brother Tommy Brewer of Chickasha; sister and brother-in-law Delores and Charlie Johnson of Chickasha; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Amon and Grace Brewer; an infant daughter, Sandra; his brother Raymond Brewer; nephew David Brewer; and his grandson Dillon Brewer.
Sevier Funeral Home will be in charge of memorial service arrangements.
