Neta “Joyce” Albright

CHICKASHA — Services for Neta “Joyce” Albright, 82, of Norman, will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha, Oklahoma.  The burial will follow at Erin Springs Cemetery.

Mrs. Albright was born June 14, 1931 near Lindsay, and died Thursday Jan. 23, 2014.  She was the daughter of Lenard and Iva (Smith) Adams.

Joyce grew up with her family in Grady County.  She met Cecil “Jack” Albright at a weekly Valley View Community sing-along.  Joyce and Jack dated; married, Sept. 23, 1946; and started their family in that community.  Recently Joyce shared a grade-school essay in which she wrote that she wanted to be a wife and mother when she grew up.  At each she was a great success.  The family moved to Norman in 1964.

Joyce managed The Bootery and Reagan’s retail stores.  She also excelled at wallpapering, refinishing furniture and floors, painting, sewing drapes, upholstering, gardening, preserving food, household carpentry, and was an incredible seamstress.  She could fit her child before bedtime and have the garment ready to wear the next morning.  Her children wondered when she ever slept.  She was lovingly referred to as a “Joyce-of-all-trades”.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents and brothers Junior, Doyle and Lee Adams.

Her surviving family includes: son Steve Albright (Margaret) of Casa Grande, AZ; daughters Sandy Stone (Clif) of Norman; Linda Bossert (Wayne) of Wichita, KS; and Tresa Albright of Norman; grandchildren James  Albright (Leigh Anne); Angela Albright-Burley (Darryl); Stuart Albright; Stephanie Albright (Blake Sine); Natalie Albright; Clif Stone III; Dana Stone; Erin Carpenter (Shawn); and Alan Bossert (Jessica); great grandchildren Jenna and Jessica Albright; Kyra and Dante Burley; Lux Sine; Devon and Jacob Holdsworth; Emelyn and Ava Carpenter; and sisters Patty Crowder and Sue Gilley.  Joyce also has numerous nephews, nieces.
