MABEL PHARISS

— Funeral service for Mabel Phariss, 85, of Chickasha, will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday,  July 11, 2013 at the First Christian Church.

MABEL PHARISS was born Sept. 12, 1927 in Verden,  the daughter of Clarence Marcus and Ethel (Clark) Thompson. She died July 8, 2013 in Shawnee.

Mabel lived in Grady County her entire life.  She and Kenny Phariss were married Aug. 4, 1951 in Chickasha.

Mabel was a member of the First Christian Church where she served as an Elder.  She was a volunteer at Grady Memorial Hospital and the Festival of Light.  She was also on a bowling league.  Mabel was a charter member of the Happy Home OHCE founded in 1949 and later belonged to the Meridian/Happy Home OHCE.  She was the 2006 Oklahoma Association of Fairs and Festivals Volunteer of the Year.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband:  Kenny Phariss; a brother:  Russell Thompson.

Survivors include: a niece:  Lori Payne of Shawnee; a nephew:  Mark Phariss of Plano, Texas; several other Phariss family members and other relatives; and special friend:  Rita Bush

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank her church family at First Christian for their support.
