Funeral service for Fred Duane Underwood, 77, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the First Baptist Church.
FRED DUANE UNDERWOOD was born July 3, 1935 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Fred and Naomi Underwood. He died December 12, 2012 in Chickasha.
Duane graduated from Chickasha High School. He got a B.A. Degree in chemistry at Oklahoma State University in 1957. He was an analytical chemist at Colorado School of Mines Research, Golden, Colorado from 1957-1958. Uranium analytical chemist at Kerr-McGee Corporation, Grants, New Mexico from 1958-1963. He performed analytical service to Kerr-McGee technical programs at Kerr-McGee Technical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from 1963-1982. His professional affiliation was 25 year member of American Chemical Society. Also, he was a
Master Mason of Chickasha Lodge #94 and 32nd degree Scottish Rite of free Masonry at Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Duane was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include: Wife: Lavernia Underwood 5 children: Fred Bromlow and wife Linda, Chuck Bromlow and wife Anita, Tammie Owens and husband Ernie, Marie Thomas, Loretta Bromlow, 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren Cousins: Joyce Smith and husband J.C., Dianne Pennypacker, JoAnn Henderson and husband Joe, Phillip Workman, Barbara Curtis, Dan Workman and wife Charlotte and Sue Bingham and husband Clyde
Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
