Wanda Mae Kirby

— Funeral services for Wanda Mae Kirby, of Chickasha, OK, will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 at the Sevier Funeral Home Chapel.

Wanda Mae Kirby was born May 8, 1924 in Atoka County  to Daniel Clayton and Emma Jean (Corbin) Hedger.  She passed away on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 in Chickasha at the age of 89.

Mrs. Kirby moved to the Chickasha area with her family and graduated from Pioneer High School.  She married H.J. Kirby on June 23, 1945 in Oklahoma City.  They lived in several states as Mr. Kirby followed the oil field work.  They made the home permanent in Chickasha in the early 1980’s.

Mrs. Kirby had worked many different jobs where ever they were living but in Chickasha she worked as a cook at Grady Memorial Hospital for several years.

She is preceded in death her husband, H.J. in 1986; a daughter, Roxanne Whitmore; her parents; a sister, Johnnie Cox and 3 brothers: Vernon, Truman and Norman Hedger.

Mrs. Kirby is survived by 2 sons; Mark J. Kirby of Texas and Matt Kirby of Chickasha, OK; Grandchildren: Jeanine Weldon, Chester Junior Whitmore and Heath Jerome Whitmore

Great Grandchildren: Lucas Weldon, Heath Jerome Whitmore, Jr. and Braxton James Whitmore; many niece, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
