— Veneta Conner

Funeral service for Veneta Conner of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 in the College Heights Baptist Church. Dr. Bryan Haynes will officiate.

Veneta was born Aug. 5, 1911 at Fitzhugh, Oklahoma, the daughter of Plesant Calvin Majors and Emma Jane Hubbard Majors. She went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 at the age of 102 years, three months, and 13 days.

Veneta grew up in the Fitzhugh and Laxton area attending school at Laxton. On Oct. 21, 1932, she married T. J. Conner. This union blessed them with two children, Kenneth and Sharon. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Veneta loved working in her flower garden, spending time with family and cooking Sunday family meals. She was a wonderful cook.

Veneta was a member of the Michigan Avenue Baptist Church attending Sunday School, Church and setting an example for her two children. She was a believer who taught by her example.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, both parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Rita Conner; daughter and husband, Sharon and Angelo Williams all of Chickasha; five grandchildren, Kay and Glen Thompson, Beth and Bosco Ray all of Chickasha, Kristina Rogers of Keller, Texas, Alicia and Chris Pettett of Durant, Oklahoma, Kevin Conner of Grand Prairie, Texas; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
