Marian Newton Coulter

Funeral service for Marian Newton Coulter, age 93, of Chickasha will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 23, 2014, at the Epworth United Methodist Church.
Marian Newton Coulter was born the daughter of Thomas Anton Newton and Angie Holcomb Newton on December 29, 1920 in Tyro, Kansas. She died on June 20, 2014 at her home in Chickasha.
Marian graduated from high school in Yale, Oklahoma then attended Oklahoma State University where she received an associate degree in business. She then married Richard "Dick" Coulter in 1943 during World War II. After the war, they moved to Louisiana, Texas, and eventually to Oklahoma. For the past 40 years, Marian has lived in Chickasha where she worked for USAO in the accounting department until her retirement.
Marian was a very active member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, as well as the Floribunda Flower Club. She was a volunteer at the Grady Memorial Hospital Gift Shop, an avid gardener, and a bird watcher. Marian also enjoyed playing canasta and bridge with her friends. She loved baking, and was known for her delicious desserts. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dick" Coulter; son, Thomas Coulter; parents, Thomas and Angie Newton; brother, Don Newton.
Survivors include son and wife, Steve and Susan Coulter of Bridge City, TX; daughter and husband, Carol and Johnny Dunnihoo of Spearman, TX; daughter, Sara Coulter of Chickasha; son and wife, Scott and Karen Coulter of Elk City; sister, Genny Newton of Chickasha; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
Interment was in the Lawson Cemetery in Yale, Oklahoma at 3:00 pm. Services were under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
